Harborplace sits at the corner of “main and main” in Baltimore, which is Pratt and Light Streets. The intersection will be vastly improved by The Park at Freedom’s Port and The Wildset. The park is a major green gateway to the waterfront and flows up to The Wildset, or 301 Light Street.

The planning and architectural design of The Wildset is inspired by Maryland’s shipbuilding history in terms of materials; and its shapes derived from an oyster wildset, representing our coastal seafood. The organic shapes cascade down to the adjacent park and create a seamless transition for visitors. The water’s edge and its access is an essential component of the new Harborplace, and a cascading amphitheater provides a front row view of the beautiful waterfront or of a stage when performers are present.

Unlike the original Harborplace, The Wildset and The Park will facilitate access to the waterfront from Light Street and promote connectivity to the City.

The organic forms of The Wildset create a stable of maker spaces and activated street level uses.

In its entirety, Harborplace is both a local and international collaboration between the City, the community, the developers, designers, planners, and engineers. BCT Design Group is honored to be part of the greater team involved in reviving Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. The additional list of contributors led by the developer MCB Real Estate includes: Gensler, 3XN, Sulton Campbell Britt, Unknown Studio Landscape Architecture, STV, Inc., Moffatt & Nichol, The Traffic Group, RK&K, and Biohabitats.

We prioritized listening to the community to hear what they wanted and married it to what could actually be built. I’m so proud to share these plans with all of Baltimore because we deserve an internationally renowned waterfront that belongs to all of us.
