7000 Columbia Gateway
The renovation at 7000 Columbia Gateway was a push by Corporate Office Properties Trust to modernize and amenities their suburban office stock. By creating social amenity spaces in the common cores of the two-story office building, all tenants benefit from a greater sense-of-place and gathering spaces for expanded productivity. The overall interior design thinking was to open lobbies, corridors as much as possible. Removing unnecessary walls and barriers created a smoother transition and flow between spaces. Where walls or structural components couldn’t be removed, structural frames with screens were placed to allow light and foster unbroken visuals throughout the space. This type of renovation is becoming more and more prevalent as developers seek to improve portfolios more sustainably.
